Miss you

Oh yeah, today is my birthday!  Gonna have a good time.  :)  And it's my 50th birthday!  How fun is that?!  This is the decade in which I will retire from work and have WAY more time to CRAFT!

The ONLY downer today is that my youngest son is SO far away - somewhere in the middle of Oklahoma (in the US Army).  So proud of him, but I miss him.  Today's card is dedicated to him.

cah-owl3Knof

Recipe for this card includes the Cottage Cutz Stylized OwlTim Holtz Idea-ology Wallflower paperTim Holtz Distress Markers, Circle Dies, Unity Stamp Company sentiment, and a Bella Creationz doily.

This card is part of a Design Team post for Cut at Home.  Check out their blog for more fun cards and a video that I did.   Be sure to sign up for their VIP email list while you are there.  They send coupons (like 40% off Spellbinders dies!).

It's Friday, so I'm also linking up to Unity's Friends with Flair!  Have a super lovely weekend.

Hopping with Unity Stamp Company

Eeek, yes - it's lil ole me guest-hopping with the Unity Stamp Company design team!  Eek!  How exciting is that?!  I got the chance to do this because I won the Unity {Be Inspired} Challenge last month.  Actually, I think the fabulous Phyllis Harris deserves the prize.....since her designs are seriously so fabulous.  :)

If you haven't started at the beginning of the hop, be sure to start at the Unity Stamp Company blog.  Otherwise, thanks so much for stopping by today!

Here's the inspiration graphic I was given.

I love the colors, the heart shaped leaves and the sketches!  I couldn't WAIT to start.  First up, I decided to use the color palette and Unity Stamp Company {Sense of Wonder}.

Other ingredients in this card:  Tim Holtz watercolor paper and distress inks, 3 Girl JAM lace (soon to be released), Heartfelt Creations - delicate asters paper.

Next, I used the sketch and Unity Stamp Company {Scarecrow Thankful for You}.

Other ingredients in this card:  Tim Holtz watercolor paper and distress inks, 3 Girl JAM diagonal stripe ribbon (soon to be released), and Bo Bunny Ambrosia paper.

Finally, I wanted to do a card with both the color palette and the sketch.  This one uses Unity Stamp Company {Array of Bottles}.

Other ingredients in this card:  Copic markers, Timeless Twine, UmWow Studio butterfly chip confetti covered in Liquid Pearls, and Basic Grey Green at Heart paper (the golden piece is from my scrap pile).

Be sure to leave a comment on each blog in the hop for your chance at the hop prize.  I appreciate all your sweet comments.  Thanks for visiting today!  Hop, hop, hop you go to your next stop!

Love Bird Note Holder

I'm up on the Timeless Twine blog today.  The design team was asked to use the following inspiration in our projects this month.

I'm so OVER the heat of summer and ready for Fall.  So much in love with these sweet little lovebirds. I created this note-holder for my office desk.  (My husband cut the wood shapes, and I decorated it...)

There is a clothespin glued to the back to keep important notes handy.  The project uses Timeless Twine in Olive Green and Chocolate Chip Brown.  The paper is from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Wallflower Stash.

Stuck! Sketches

The Linnie Blooms design team is honored to be featured at Stuck?! Sketches.  Here's the super fun sketch we were given...

The pic in the lay-out is my mom and me at Scrapfest 2013 at the Mall of America.  So Much Fun!

I used Tim Holtz Ideo-logy Wallflower paper, a circle, flower and leaves from Linnie Blooms Set of Canvas Dies, and a variety of tape.  The flower and leaves are inked up with distress inks.  The circle center of the flower is inked up with alcohol ink.  I finished it off with some Timeless Twine and a word band from Tim Holtz Idea-ology line.  (I painted the word band with Tim Holtz distress paint in Stormy Sky.

YOU are Loved

Happy Friday, Friends with Flair!  Here's my card for today!

The girl is colored with TH Distress Markers, and the Linnie Blooms Hearts are inked with TH Distress Ink in Dried Marigold, Dusty Concord, Rusty Hinge, Chipped Sapphire, and Salty Ocean through one of his layering masks.  Whenever I play with my blooms, I need texture....serious texture, so I dry embossed the background and, of course, distressed the edges with my Distrezz-it-All.  The shiny hearts are from UmWow Studio and are covered in Liquid Pearls.

The stamp is a Suzi Blu creation from Unity Stamp Company.  I'm entering this card into this month's Unity Be Inspired challenge.  I got pretty close to the colors, at least the orange and purple.... LOL!

Ruff U

Happy Friday, Friends with Flair!  For today's post, I created a doggie card hoping to capture some of the cuteness of my dog.  Here's Chief (wearing his little life jacket at the boat)...

He's got such a fun and pretty mixture of black, grey and brow fur.  The Puppy Ruff stamp from Unity has floppy ears, and Chief has pointy ears, but I tried to capture his mixture of colors.  Well....sorta anyway :)

Have a lovely weekend!

Framing Daisy

I'm excited to be showing a project on the Cut at Home blog today with the LO below.  I used a picture of my MIL's bull mastiff (and my husband) to create a lay-out.  (The dog's name is Daisy!)

For this project, I used Tim Holtz Ideology Wallflower Stash paper (which is seriously GORGEOUS!) and the Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Eight, but most any of these fabulous nesting dies would work.  Here's a close-up of my project.  Full details, a video and more close-up pictures can be found at the Cut at Home blog.

I'll give you my heart

Today, I'm sharing a card on Linnie Blooms blog that I made using a pennant and a heart inked up through a couple stencils with TH distress ink.  These shapes are from the Linnie Blooms - Set of Canvas Dies - Shapes.  Since it's Friday, I'm also linking up with Friends with Flair!  Happy Friday everyone!

I had finished with the card and was stamping the sentiment when I bobbled and rocked my block.  Oh NO!  I ended up swiping on some black ink around the image to hide it, and I actually like the look.  It sorta gives it movement!  The paper is from PB&J from Basic Grey, and the stamp is Unity Stamp Company {Sense of Wonder}.  I finished it off with some 3 Girl JAM lace and ribbon.  The inside of the card says, "I'll give you my heart."  I gave this card to my husband for our 6th anniversary earlier this month.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  If you have a minute, check out:

Need a Squeeze

Today, I'm sharing a card over at Linnie Blooms that I "squeezed" from my creativity (LOL) using circles from the Linnie Blooms - Set of Canvas Dies - Shapes, Unity Stamp Company {Need a Squeeze}, paper from Simple Stories {A Charmed Life} and a smidge of UmWow Studio Heart Confetti.

I inked the circles with Dylusions in Mowed Lawn and Lemon Zest and Mr. Hueys in Sherbet.  I love how they frame that citrus fruit!

Now, who doesn't need to be squeezed every now and then?!  Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Before you go, be sure to check out:

Sunflowers

I've got a card featured today on the Timeless Twine blog made with Timeless Twine in Natural White!

I'm curious.....when you craft, do your ideas start with the image, the paper or embellishments you want to use?  I'm all over the place, but I usually start with an image.  This can with sunflowers is from Unity Stamp Company {Hello Gorgeous}.  The paper is Basic Grey Serenade and is colored with Copics.  I finished it off with a smidge of 3 Girl JAM crinkle ribbon (that I flattened with water), a button, an enamel dot and of course, the soft Natural White Timeless Twine!

Thanks ever so much for stopping by today!

Eek, my first VIDEO! And some lay-outs!

Hey there!  Today is the first day of a vacation time for me, and I'm trying out for a new design team.  The new team wanted to see some of my scrapbook lay-outs and an example of a video.  I've never done a video before.....so don't judge.  Hahah  Actually, I am pretty proud of it for a first video!  Check it out and subscribe to my channel while you are at it!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NB7UwT-l_20

A card I made using this technique can be found HERE....

And now for some of my scrapbook lay-outs...  This is from my wedding album.  I met my husband on match.com, and the text to the right is the story about how we met, and our final conversation on that internet site.

This is a lay-out of when my youngest (whose initials are BG) graduated from high school.  You think - just maybe - he's happy!?!

This lay-out is a pic of the 2nd youngest when he bought his Corvette.  The LO has lasted longer than the car.

And finally, some camping photos with some dear friends.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Wish me luck!

Back to School

3 Girl JAM has a NEW challenge!  This month, 3 Girl JAM is asking YOU to create something for Back-To-School or something with a Writing Instrument.  I don't normally craft for back-to-school (my kids are grown), so I included an option for old folks like me :)  As always, you have to include ribbon (or another project from 3 Girl JAM!

I decided to actually make a back-to-school card.  Not sure what I'm going to do with it.....but I seriously needed to use an adorable stamp set (School Doodles) from There She Goes.

This super-bright colorful card uses the Lemon-Lime ribbon from the 3 Girl JAM LG Bundle.

Craftily yours,

Karen
