Background Challenge

It's time for a new Designer Challenge over at Elizabeth Craft Designs!  We were challenged to use the General Pop-ups die in our creation!  There's a $20 gift card available to win over at the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.  All you have to do is answer a question on their blog!  The question this month is:

Be sure to check it out at their blog for your chance to win!

Here's what I did:

It's a 5"x7" mixed media canvas.  The steps I took to make this canvas:
1. I swiped on some Cobalt Teal and Light Yellow Green DecoArt Acrylic Paint throughout the background.
2. I cut a Circles Background die and then used it as a template and sponged Primary Cyan paint in random spots in the background.  In the below picture, you can see them in the corner.  I also put random swipes of Prussian Blue paint here and there.

3. I covered the whole background with DecoArt Mat Medium.

4. I die cut both of the dies from the Pair of Leaves 1 set with white soft-finish cardstock covered with adhesive.  Then I covered the leaves with Sea Glass Silk Microfine Glitter.

5. I stamped random sentiments onto a piece of pattern card stock from the Fly & Scrap paper. The sentiments are from the General Sentiments; Plant, Grow & Bloom; Summer Sentiments; and Fashionable Phrases Sets. I edged this panel with a little distress ink in Blueprint Sketch.

6.  I cut a Circles Die from the Fly & Scrap paper.  (It's the pink, blue and yellow circles in the background.)

7.  I stamped, colored and die cut the butterfly from the Bugs & Butterflies Clear Stamps and Coordinating Dies.  I sponged on some mat medium to the butterfly just to "grunge" it up a little.

8. I adhered the circles, leaves, some lace and the sentiment panel to the canvas with mat medium.

9.  I die cut an Entwined Circles with adhesive and applied Faded Denim Silk Microfine Glitter.  I adhered it over the sentiment panel with Mat Medium.

10.  Finally, I edged the entire thing with some Prussian Blue paint and added a few pearls to the Entwined Circles.

Thanks for sticking with me through this long post.  This was a fun one to make!  And thank you for stopping by today!

Craftily yours,

Karen

Hoot Hoot - You're a Hoot

Hi Y'all!  Time for me to post over at Dare 2B Artzy!  I absolutely adore the Dare 2B Artzy stamps!  They are seriously so much fun to color!  Many of you know that I have two sons and two step-sons.  That's a whole-lotta-boy to create for!  Today, I made this card using the Dare 2B Artzy Hoot Hoot and Texture A stamps:

I love these owls.  They are so cute.  To make the card, I stamped one of the texture stamps and web embossed it with Ranger gold embossing powder.  I added some distress oxide inks in Fossilized Amber and Peeled Paint and sprayed with a bit of water to blend.  I die-cut the background with Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangles.  The owl is colored with Copic markers G40, G43, Y26, Y28, E41, and E42.

Baby, It's Cold Outside

Baby, it IS cold outside! Time for a couple last-minute Christmas cards.  I can't believe Christmas is 12 days away. This FuN pop-up card is made with products from Elizabeth Craft Designs:

On top of the General Pop-Up Dies (which make pop-up cards amazing easy!), I used the Candy Land Clear Stamps and Coordinating Dies.  I used the White Christmas 6x6 paper collection.  I colored up the adorable images with Copics:  E31, E35, B000, B00, B02, G43, G46, R35, R37, R39.

The flower were made by putting adhesive on soft-finish white cardstock and then covering them with Forest Green glitter.  I added some silver "prill-like" beads from Finnabair and a sentiment from the Christmas Collection.  The pop-ups are mounted on a Dotted Scallop Square (I cut the ends off, so only the top and bottom show the scallop.  The line stickers are called, Borders - Hearts and Flowers. Some lace and Nuvo drops finish off my card.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Nautical Birthday Card

Do you have water-loving people in your life?  I do, and instantly fell in love with the shark/fish stamp that is part of Sailor's Life stamps and coordinating dies from  Elizabeth Craft Designs (ModaScrap Collection).  Here's what I did:

Isn't he adorable?  Maybe he's so happy cuz he's going to eat that boat??!  Hahaha  I used a sentiment that is part of the General Sentiments collection.  The paper is from the Under the Sea Collection.  I taped the strip to the side and die cut the sentiment with the Stitched Fishtail Banners dies and then die cut the whole thing with the Stitched Rectangles dies.  I used the Fitted Circles to cut a couple circles in the panel and used a piece of "wave" patterned paper behind it.

Celebrate!

I love playing with the Distress Oxides!  Today, I used them along with a stamp set from Elizabeth Craft Designs to create this:

Cute, huh?  The stamps from the Color of Puppies, Girl set.  I stamped two and then cut them out with the Stitched Rectangle dies.  I colored them with V04, V06, B12, B14, R81, C1, C3, W0, W2, W3, and W5.  Adorable stamps.  The background was done with the Worn Lipstick, Salty Ocean and Wilted Violet inks and also cut with one of the Stitched Rectangle die.  The sentiment is from the Banner Sentiments set, and I added a fun banner (also dipped in Distress Oxide inks) cut from the Celebration Flags dies.  I finished off the card with some Nuvo Drops.  Special note, the balloons were stamped onto the background and then colored and fussy cut because I wanted them to not have the tiny white border.  I drew on the balloon strings with a black fine marker.

Pop-Ups Designer Challenge

It's time for a new Designer Challenge over at Elizabeth Craft Designs!  We were challenged to use the General Pop-ups die in our creation!  There's a $20 gift card available to win over at the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.  All you have to do is answer a question on their blog!  The question is:  "What Elizabeth Craft Designs dies or stamp sets would you use with the General Pop-ups Die set if you were making a Pop Up Card?"

Be sure to check it out at their blog for your chance to win!

Here's what I did:

Making the inside of your cards extra special is super easy with the pop-up die.  I remember making my first pop-up, all that measuring and creasing.  With this die, it's SO simple to do!

And seriously, how cute is that snow globe (cut with the Snowglobe Scene dies)??!  It comes with all the pieces you need to make adorable snowglobe scenes.  To create my scene, I added a mixture of Kids Choice Glue and Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter to the snow die cuts in the set.  I added a colored house and trees from the Row Houses Clear Stamps and cut them with the coordinating dies.  The colors I used were E31, E33, E35, R35, R37, YG61, YG63, C1, and BG10.

I decorated the inside with the Christmas Collection Clear stamps.  The outside circles were die cut with the Stitched Circles die as was the popped up snowflake.  The thin inside circle comes with the Snowglobe die.

The card base and accent circle were colored with Distress Oxide inks in Salty Ocean, Faded Denim and Peacock Feathers.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Get Your Happy On

Eek!  I LoVe the new fashion stamps from Elizabeth Craft Designs SO much.  I'm not really a fashion girl in real life - I wear what's comfortable.....but I'm loving putting them on paper to try out different outfits.  Today's post uses the Fashions 1 stamps and coordinating dies:

Wow, I wish I had the waist to pull off that FuN skirt.  I colored the images with Copic markers - BG53, BG57, B00, V22, V25, Y23, and Y26.  The paper may be my new favorite.  It's SO pretty - called Fly and Scrap.  I layered the FuN images on a Stitched Rectangle die cut and a rectangle I cut with my cutter.  I then added the wavy stitched white accent cut from the Adventure Edges dies!  The sentiment is from the Fashionable Phrases set.  To finish off the card, I added just a touch of scrunched up lace and some Nuvo drops.

Designer Challenge - Christmas

It's time for a new Designer Challenge over at Elizabeth Craft Designs!  This month is about Christmas!  There's a $20 gift card available to win over at the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.  All you have to do is answer the question on their blog - What are your favorite projects to create during the Christmas season?

Here's what I did:

LLLLLLove the Unconventional Xmas paper that is (fairly) new at Elizabeth Craft Designs.  I embellished that Pillow Box with Handles (so easy to make!) with a simple Stitched circle stamped with the Holiday Trees & Ornaments stamps.  I finished off my box with a bow of crinkle seam binding ribbon.

The card is made with more of the Unconventional Xmas paper and embellished with "snow hills" made from the Adventure Edges dies.  Then I added a tree, again from the Holiday Trees & Ornaments set that I cut with the coordinating dies, and stamped with a sentiment from the Holiday Cheer set.

I only used a few Copics on my creations - YG61, C1, and E31 for the trees and the tiny owl, and Y15 for the birds.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Merry Christmas - Square Style

Today is my day at the Dare 2B Artzy blog!  I'm featuring a Christmas card today using stamps that normally would not say "Christmas" - but they did to me, so why not?!?  The set is from the Totally Tracy line at Dare 2B Artzy - called Be There or Be Square.

I used Copic markers YG61 and YG63 for the leaves, colored the flowers with R24, R27 and R29 and filled in the background with B00.  The flower square was stamped twice, and I fussy cut three of the flowers in one square to use as embellishments.  The sentiment is from the Penguin Fun stamps, and the paper is from the Holly Days Paper Collection.
