Be Bold

It's my day over at Dare 2B Artzy, and today, I'm sharing a card that stretched my creative boundaries a bit using Totally Tracy Chipboard and the Be Bold Stamps.

For the background, I used a TH stencil with distress ink in Fossilized Amber and Dried Marigold.  For the flower, I used TH distress paints in Spun Sugar and Dried Marigold.  The Dare 2B Artzy Totally Black ink stamped that dark pretty flower image, and the center is Nuvo Drops.  I painted the whole flower with crackle paint.

It's time for a new Elizabeth Craft Designs Challenge.  These challenges are given to the designers, and they are SUCH fun.  This month's challenge is called Fabulous Florals.  Be sure to stop by the design team blog post to see what gorgeous creations have been made by my design team sisters.

For today's challenge Elizabeth Craft Designs are giving away a "Fabulous Flowers" prize pack to three winners. This give away will include:  Joset Designs Pinwheel; Els van de Burgt Flower Cluster 1; Susan's Garden Tulip 2; A Way with Stencils -Butterfly Kaleidoscope Stencil; Krista Schneider Spring Blooms Stamp & Die set and ModaScrap Happy Flowers.

To enter simply leave a comment on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Challenge post and tell us "What is your favorite springtime flower?”

We will select 3 lucky winners in a random drawing

The winners will be announced on Friday, March 24 on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.

My card today features a FuN stamp called Spring Blooms and a new stencil called A Way with Stencils - Dotty:

So much FuN with this card, and I really love how it turned out!  The flower is colored with Copic markers:  BG02, BG05, BG07, G40, G43, and G46 with touches of Y18.  I cut it out with the Spring Blooms Coordinating Dies.

For the stencil, I used distress inks in Picked Raspberry, Fossilized Amber and Broken China.  The butterfly is also an Elizabeth Craft Designs die that I cut in soft finish white cardstock and then inked up with the same distress inks.  The frame is a Beaded Oval Frames die cut of Soft Sky Soft Finish cardstock.  The sentiment is from the Love Sentiments Dies.  For this one, I just inked the bottom to get that fun ombre effect.  To finish off the card, I added some pearls, lace and ribbon.

SMILE if you LoVe Cute Bears!

I'm  loving all the stamps over at Elizabeth Craft Designs....and I've purchased a whole slew of their fun dies too!  Today, I used the cute bear in the Zoo Babies set to create this:

The bear is colored with E41, E42, E43, E44, RV66 and RV69.  I splattered some Dylusions ink on the background and dabbed my colorless blender into RV66 to add the color to the flowers.  I also used RV66 to create the dot pattern on the "Smile" die-cut sentiment (that I cut three times and glued together to add dimension).

The circle background die is from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  I adhered a piece of clear-double sided adhesive to the paper before die-cutting it.  Then....I added some of the beautiful fine glitter.  Here's a short video to show you the pretty goodness of the glitter:

Butterfly Happy Birthday

As some of you know, I manage Arts Departments at a local university.  Basically, I'm the rules person in the room amongst all the artists!  Some of the staff I supervise mentioned that they like my crafts, so I started a "crafter-lunch" where I bring the supplies and teach one card for anyone who wants to show up.  Today's card features some cool new dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs:

I don't do a lot of "non-coloring" cards, but my design team sisters at Elizabeth Craft Designs have inspired me.  I really like how it turned out and hope my staff do too.

Wish Flower

It's been raining stupid crazy in Northern California!  We have been in a drought for several years, and it's been painful to watch our flowers die and our lawns go "golden brown" due to lack of water.  Wellllll, I guess we got what we asked for, but now, I feel like we're all just going to float away!  When it rains, it pours and pours!

So, on rainy soppy days, I've been crafting!  My card today features a FuN stamp from Elizabeth Craft Designs called Flower Power.  I paired it with the Ready to Bloom and Circle Background dies:

I got some NEW Marvy Uchida watercolor sticks and colored the flower with them.  Not bad for a first attempt with a new toy, I think!

Wings of Joy Christmas

Christmas Card Challenges has a new (and optional) challenge this week.

This week's challenge is a color challenge.  I had a hard time with this particular challenge; the colors are not in my normal wheelhouse.  The good news is that challenges are left open for a little interpretation.  Here's mine:

I used the adorable image Angelic Wings image from Tiddly Inks.  The paper is Recollections North Pole Gazette.  I used the following Copic markers:

Skin:  E000, E00, E11, R20, BV00
Dress:  C1, C3 (and a Wink of Stella Marker too!)
Wings, Shoes:  E41, E43
Hair:  E00, E21, E33

Thanks for stopping by today!  Hope you join us in the challenge!  No time like the present to get a start on those FuN Christmas Cards!

Reach for the Stars

Happy Friday!  I'm having such fun with the new stamps (and many new-to-me) dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  There's a fun variety - something for everyone.  Go check them out!

Today, I used Jungle Cuties for this card:

The monkey is colored with Copic markers:  W0, W2, Y21, Y23, E31, E33, V20, V22, and the leaves are colored with G40, G43.  For the frame around the image, I cut a fitted rectangle from the dove grey soft finish cardstock adhered the image to it.  I then used two of the stitched rectangles to cut the upper frame from the perfect purple soft finish cardstock.  I used pop tape to adhere it.

Then, I created the background with the little dots that come with the stamps and colored them with Y23, G43, and V22.  How fun is the background?  I wasn't terribly careful with lining it up or coloring the dots in any order, and I like the random feel of it!  I stamped a sentiment from the Dream Sentiments set and die cut it with the circles dies.  Then, I die cut a dove grey dotted scallop circle and just used it as a little off-set.  Here's a close-up of the background:

It's time for a new challenge at Christmas Card Challenges.  The (always optional) challenge prompt this week is an image of horses in snow.

I had a hard time with this one, but inspiration comes in all sorts of ways.  Here's what I made being inspired by the light/white, snow and horses (which I changed to a horse-like animal).

Adore

It's my Dare 2B Artzy day, and I am excited to be showing off a card I made for a CHA display using the Dare 2B Artzy, Totally Tracy Vines of Loves stamps and coordinating chipboard.

The background is done with a couple stencils and distress ink in Walnut Stain and Festive Berries.  The little words are from a Tim Holtz word page.  I stamped the "leaves" in Mowed Lawn and painted the flower with picket fence crackle paint with a Nuvo Drop / Stickles center.  I added some Nuvo drops, twine and a key for embellishment.  I simply LoVe this card....even if I do say so myself.  haha
