Believe in the Absurd

This month, over at Linnie Blooms, the design team was challenged to make a project that includes our favorite quote.  Uhh.  I don't have a favorite quote; I've never even given it a thought.  LOL  Sooooo, I pulled out some stamp quotes from Ranger, and I liked this one!

I used a stamp I had from the (now closed) There She Goes line and some BG Serenade paper.  I colored the little fairy with TH Distress Markers and stamped part of the image on Linnie Blooms Canvas Shapes (square) that I had painted through a stencil with Tim Holtz Tattered Rose distress paint.  The ribbon is from 3 Girl JAM.  The whole card is distressed with my Distrezz-it-All.  I really love that thing!

Feather Love

Today, I've got a card feathered on the Linnie Blooms blog.  Did I say feathered?!?!  Why, yes I did!  I love feathers!  And wow, am I ever in LOVE with the fabulous Linnie Blooms feathers.  Check 'em out...

SO easy to make this card!  I first inked up the canvas feathers with some TH Distress Ink in Squeezed Lemonade.  Then, I used an UmWow Studio mask to add the circles with TH Distress ink in Broken China.  Finally, I added the veins with a TH watercolor marker and edges with distress ink in Vintage Photo.  I added some 3 Girl JAM distressed lace, some Webster's Pages paper, and a flower from my stash.  The paper is all inked and distressed on the edges.  I was trying to figure out what sentiment to use, when I found that card that I got in a surprise package.  I love how the feathers highlight the words....

Reach for the Stars

Happy FRIDAY, Friends with Flair!  It's been a while since I've been able to get a post up on Friday.  Life has been so busy.  My oldest broke his big toe (ouch), youngest was home for 3 weeks from his deployment, and 2nd youngest had his wisdom teeth removed.  I've been nurse-maid, travel and event planner, and chef.  I don't do it all the time anymore because my kids are older, but it was sure fun to be totally needed (for a while) again.

Today's card is being entered into this month's Unity {Be Inspired} challenge using the color palette and uses a Unity Stamp Company set from Phyllis Harris {Reach for the Stars} colored with TH Watercolor Distress Markers and Inks.  Some stickles and liquid pearls highlight those stars.

I used paper from my stash, UmWow Studio Confetti Stars, 3 Girl JAM crinkle ribbon and Timeless Twine.

I love that "bow"....so shiny and colorful.  Here's a close-up.

Hope you are all having a blessed Summer!

Happy Bird

We are celebrating sorbet twine at Timeless Twine this month.  Love these colors!   Did you know they are on sale?!  That's right, you can get your own spool for a heck of a deal!!!  These are such fun colors.  My card uses the fabulous Razzleberry Sorbet (pink and aqua blue twisted).  What is a Razzleberry anyway?!

I love this sentiment.  Every day, we should all make every effort to be happy, don't you think?  My card uses Unity Stamp Company, Bird with a French Fry and a variety of paper from my scrap drawer.  I got inspiration for this card from a card made by a Unity artista, Shilo!  The sequins are from Bella Creations June embellishment kit.

Patriotic Wall Hanging

This month, over at Linnie Blooms, the design team was challenged to make a project that is somehow patriotic.  I wanted to try my hand at using a Linnie Blooms 5x5 canvas blank to create a mini wall-hanging.

My son is proudly serving in the U.S. Army, so I knew exactly what stamp I wanted to use from Unity Stamp Co.  Here's a close-up of the fabulous sentiment I chose.

I love that.  After I stamped the sentiment, I used Mr. Hueys (Overdue) and Adirondack Color Wash (Denim) through a couple Tim Holtz layering stencils to create a background.  (I covered the sentiment with a strip of paper to make sure I didn't spray over it.)  I stamped a heart from Unity (Heart Finds Home) after coloring it with Tim Holtz Distress Markers and spritzing it with water to create the heart below.  Finally, I added some fabric tape, UmWow Studio star confetti and oodles of Stickles.  With some ribbon as a hanger, here's what the final project looks like.

The final touch was to add some faux stitching and an underline under the sentiment.  (Thanks to my DT sister, Donna K, for that fabulous idea!

Special Anniversary

I'm super excited to be up on the Linnie Blooms Design Team blog sharing with you a card I made for some of my mom's friends.  My mom said, "I'd like to give them something special for their 50th Wedding Anniversary..."  I hope they liked it!

I used a piece of the Linnie Bloom Chevron burlap to create some extra texture and used by Distrezz-It-All to fray up the edges.  The leaves on that flower are a Nestability die that I used some brass Tim Holtz stain to color up.

50 years is a LONG time to be married.  Congrats to my mom's friends on a fabulous event!

Owl Be Darned!

This month, we are celebrating Timeless Twine in the Sorbet colors.  These are such fun colors.  My card uses the fabulous Watermelon Sorbet (pink and lime twisted).

The owls are from Unity Stamp Company (from a recent grab-bag).  The washi came in an embellishment kit, and the paper is from Webster's pages.  I love these owls!  They make me totally just smile.
