Spotty Mushroom

If you are looking for the 3 Girl JAM hop - go "HERE".

This week the Cuttin' and Stampin' Orange Team is playing with paper from
My Minds Eye Now & Then Izzy line.

We are challenging you to make a project using the paper piecing technique.  For my project, I paper-pieced this cute little mushroom together.

I decided to color the spots on the mushroom to match the blue in the background (using Copic B29).  Then I added some Gesso and Mr. Huey Sherbet spray dots to the background with one of the Tim Holtz layered masks.  It's definitely a spotty card!  The flair is from the Now & Then line.  It's a pin, so I hooked it up with ribbon so that the recipient could wear the pin.  Some orange metal sequins added some sparkle....gotta have some sparkle!

Be sure to head over to the Cuttin' and Stampin Scrappy Supply Store
to see the whole Now & Then line.

Go HERE to add your project.

Karen

Spring Easter Eggs

This month at Timeless Twine, we are celebrating Spring.  I love Spring projects, and one of my faves is Easter....so here's what I came up with today!

Isn't she just so cute with her basket full of sparkly eggs? :)  I used Timeless Twine in Lemonade Yellow to frame the picture and in Bubblegum Pink on the background!  I also used a doily from Bella Creationz.  The stamp is from There She Goes stamps, and the paper is from Prima All About Me.  That gorgeous lace is from 3 Girl JAM.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Here comes the RAIN, I hope!

I'm up on the Timeless Twine blog today celebrating Spring.  I live in Northern California, and other than a storm or two, our Winter has been Spring-like beautiful weather.  It's been beautiful, but I'm hoping our Spring is rain-filled.....so our farmers are able to get their crops watered!

Today's card is a bit of a rain-dance from me in fun Spring colors.  I used Lawn Fawn "Hello Sunshine" papers and Timeless Twine in Lemonade Yellow and Bubblegum Pink.  The doily is from Bella Creationz.  The stamp is a Stamp of the Week from Unity Stamp Company called, Whatever the Weather Rain Boots.

Can you hear the rain-dance drums and shiny rain boots beating in the background?  :)  Here's a close-up of those super shiny boots!

Chevrons and Christmas

There's only 9 months and 9 days until Christmas!  Yay!   AND it's time for a new challenge at Christmas Card Challenges!  This week's challenge is to create a Christmas card with chevrons.  As always, the challenge part is optional.  All we ask is that you link up with us!  Easy, huh?

This card includes a stamp from There She Goes stamps.  They went out of business - total bummer....but I got this cutie before they closed their shop.  I used some heart tape, chevron washi and a banner from a scrap along with some UmWow Studios chip colored up with Liquid Pearls and adorned with a snowflake.

Charmed, I'm sure

Weekly Challenge 14-10
March 11- 17, 2014
St. Patrick's Day

This week, the Cuttin' and Stampin' Orange Design Team is getting their Irish on for St. Patrick's Day. We used elements from
Charmed Life by Simple Stories which is available in the
Cuttin' and Stampin' Scrappy Supply Store HERE.

Mixed Media St. Patrick's Day had me a little stumped.  I decided to fudge just a little and have a St. Patricks day "flair" to my card.

In addition to the beautiful paper, brads and die cuts from Simple Stories, I created the clover with glossy accents and Tim Holtz distress glitter in Mowed Lawn, inked with with a little TH Walnut Stain ink to dim down the color. I finished off the card with some UmWow Studio star confetti chip painted with Tim Holtz distress paint in Stormy Sky and covered with Stardust Stickles.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Here for you

Happy Friday Friends with Flair!  I'm sharing a couple cards with you today.  Last weekend, I went to a crop event.....SO much fun!  Here's one of the cards I made at that event using Unity Stamp Company Matching Socks.

One of the hostesses saw it and wanted to buy it.  Are you kidding?  You invite me to a fantastic event, and you want me to SELL you one of the cards I made?  Of course I gave it to her.  I did manage to snap a quick pic.  I love this set....

A second card I made at the event is a sympathy card for a friend who recently lost her brother.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Karen

Feeling Happy

I've got a card up on the 3 Girl JAM blog today!  Fun!  Our theme this month is yellow, orange and green.  These colors leave a happy feeling..... I used Lil Happy Bird from Unity Stamp company along with the brand new lemon-lime crinkle ribbon from the LG Bundle and some of the distressed lace.

The paper is from a scrap pile, and I am pretty sure it's mostly Country Drive from Echo Park.  (I used the cover sheet to get the pattern strips!)  I'm entering it into Hiding in my Craftroom Scraps Challenge.  The banner chip is UmWow Studio (covered in Cantaloupe Liquid Pearls).

Be sure to stop by the 3 Girl JAM Store --- and don't forget you can use code KN10 to get 10% off. Whoop, whoop!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Madge's Scrappin' Lounge

My friend, Madge, decided to try her hand at creating and selling an embellishment kit.  She got a small group of test dummies (like me!) to go in on her first round.  Wow, this is one time, I was SO happy to be a test dummy.  The first kit came with all sorts of goodies - banners, tags, labels, die cut shapes, buttons, twine, eek!  Fun!  What's really cool is that I would probably not have picked out 1 or 2 of these items - before - so it was super fun to try new things.

This first one includes from the kit:  a die cut label, a banner.  The kit came with some yummy twine, but I used Timeless Twine from my stock (since I am a Twine-ista, ya know!)  I added the cardstock, ribbon and the stamping which is from "Moon Beams & Heart Strings," Unity Stamp Company.  I colored with moons with a Wink of Stella Glitter pen in Silver and the stars with a Copic glitter pen in gold.  The sentiment is embossed with Ranger Embossing Pearl in Pale Gold.

The second card I made for my FIL's birthday and includes from the kit: button and die-cut label.  The other items are paper from my stash and from a Halloween paper kit, 3 Girl JAM burlap ribbon and "Everything More" from Unity Stamp Company.

And I have oodles of other new stuff to play with....  Special thanks to my friend and DT sistah, Madge, for including me in her trial run.  And thank YOU for checking out my post today.

Craftily yours,

Karen

Check You Out

I had such a fun weekend!  Soooooooo, last year, my mom and I went to Scrapfest in Minneapolis.  Such a fun time.  At our motel there, we met some women from No California.  These women host a crop event twice a year with over 100 people.....and they invited me to come.  I've never done a crop like that - what FUN!

I finished up some projects and made several cards and wanted to get at least one of them today.  For this card, I used Unity Stamp Company "Well....check you out" from their Stamp of the Week club and some paper from Basic Grey Clippings.  The ribbon is 3 Girl JAM crinkle ribbon tied with their awesome sauce bow-maker.

I'm entering this into Shopping Our Stash 3-2-1 challenge as it has 3 patterned papers, two sequins and 1 button.  :)

Craftily yours,

Karen

Merry and Bright CAS

It's an optional CAS challenge over at Christmas Card Challenges!  I don't know about you, but CAS is TOUGH for me.  I decided I wanted to stray away from the traditional green and red on this card.....so I went with purple.  How fun is that?!  It's SO dark purple that it looks black in the picture......  To add some sparkle, I Stickled the little snowflake.  CAS?  yep!  Get started on your Christmas cards now.  Join us, won't you?

Stickles Stained Glass

I'm so excited to be the Blitsy featured guest designer today. So exciting.  I love deal-a-day sites, and Blitsy is the one of the coolest because it's many great deals each day!

A while back, I was on a Stickles design team with a fabby gal named Angeline.  She made some stained glass with a transparency and some Stickles.  I thought it looked cool, so I'm sharing my version of Stained-Glass Stickles with you today!

First step is to stamp an image on some form of transparency.  I used Clearly For Art Modeling Film and Ranger Archival Ink in Jet Black to stamp Unity Stamp Company's Spring has Sprung stamp set.  Note that images with super fine details would be difficult to use in this process, in my humble opinion.

Give the ink a chance to dry before touching it.  Then, turn the image over and start coloring with Stickles on the back.

I used Stickles in Antique Linen-Distress, Tumbled Glass-Distress, Green, Cotton Candy, Glam Pink, and Yellow.  Now, here comes the hard part.  Set it aside for several hours (preferably overnight) to dry.  Yes, waiting is the hardest part!  I generally will do something like this on a cheap paper-plate, so I can pick up the whole thing and move it aside.  When it's all dry and you turn back over the image, this is what you get:

I then used some Lawn Fawn Oh Sunshine paper and Spellbinders, Label 8 (for the frame) and put this together...

Here's a close-up of the sparkly goodness:

Thanks for hanging with me on this long post....and special thanks to Angeline for turning me on to this technique.  Hope you enjoyed my sparkly post today!

Craftily yours,

Karen

Friendship Blog Hop

Happy Friday, Friends with Flair - and happy blog-oversary to my friend, Julie!  It's become a tradition of sorts for a group of us to get together on her blog-oversary and celebrate friendships.  I've never met any of the women on this hop, but they inspire me with their creations, they are there with uplifting words when I feel sad, and they are there to celebrate with me when I have success or joy.  I call that friendship.

If you came from Maria's blog, you are in the hop.  If you stumbled upon my post and haven't hopped all the way through, go to Julie's blog to start and see all the fabulous inspiration!

Wishing all their dreams come true (using Unity Stamp Company True Wishes), here is my card.

As many of you know, I host a crafter-lunch at work each month.  This is this month's card....so it's a double celebration of friendship!

Lawn Fawn and Timeless Twine

Lawn Fawn and Timeless Twine - a fabulous match, I say.  I'm so excited to be up on the Timeless Twine blog featuring some twine-y goodness with some products from Lawn Fawn!  Both my cards feature paper from the fun and sunny Lawn Fawn Hello Sunshine paper pack and stamps from the Swimsuit Season set.

It's been a long, cold winter for my friends on the east coast.  Here in Northern California, we really haven't had a winter yet.  Very little rain......it's going to be a long hot summer if Momma Nature doesn't look over here......so my first card highlights one way to "keep cool" wearing those flippy-flops!  I love the new Simply White Timeless Twine!

The next card features the adorable little bathing suits in the stamp-set!  Aren't they SO cute?!  I created a sun frame for them in Timeless Twine Lemonade Yellow, and I added a couple of the little drinks (covered in Glossy Accents) to the sentiment.

Special thanks to Lawn Fawn for sharing their yummy goodness with me and my Timeless Twine DT Sistahs.  So fun and sunny!

Embossed Christmas

Have you started your Christmas cards yet?  No?  What?!  It's March already!  It'll be Christmas before you know it!  :)  Take a moment and create with us at Christmas Card Challenges!  Our optional challenge this week is to heat emboss.

I heat embossed Unity Stamp Company Holiday Joy Christmas Tree from their Stamp of the Week club with silver and added some cranberry Stickles ornaments.  The paper is from Carta Bella, So This is Christmas.  I've had the silver washi for a long time in my stash.

Fun!  Love a little Christmas joy all year long!

YOU...Crack Me Up

I've got a card up on the 3 Girl JAM Challenge blog today and wanted to share with you some extra details here.  This month at 3 Girl JAM, we are challenging you to use yellow, orange and green in a creation. I didn't think I'd love this color combo, but I do!  Here's my card with yellow, orange and green!

I used some of the 3 Girl JAM distressed lace.  If you haven't gotten some yet, you should.  I cannot begin to describe how pretty this dyed lace is.  In each package, you get a variety of sizes, patterns and shades.....and they are SO pretty.  I also used 3 Girl JAM daffodil crinkle ribbon (from the Spring Flowers bundle).  Don't forget you can use code KN10 to get 10% off.  That's a sweet deal!

The stamp is from Unity Stamp Company, called YOU...Crack Me Up!  I love the sentiment.  I colored it with Tim Holtz Distress Markers and added some UmWow Studio confetti butterflies covered in Liquid Pearls.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  And be sure to link up your green, yellow and orange!
