Thinking of You

Today, a dear sweet friend at work had some surgery.  She has been so nervous....how would it go?  What would they find?  How long to recover?  I'm happy to say that it all went well.....and she is already home resting comfortably.  I was inspired to let her know that I'm thinking of her.

I was also inspired by the Unity Be Inspired challenge this month.

First, I love the sentiment set this month.  It's called, "May Hope Sustain You."  And I really loved it.  It's not a requirement to enter the challenge....but I just love it, so I wanted to use it.  Second, I was inspired by the color palette.  I strayed a little....but close 'nuf!   Here's my entry!

The paper is Basic Grey, Kioshi.  The ribbon and lace are from 3 Girl JAM.  (Enabler alert, you can use code KN10 to get a 10% discount there.....beautiful ribbon and lace....)  Thanks for stopping by!

Loved You Before I Knew You...

Happy Friday, Friends with Flair!

I seriously cannot get enough Unity Phyllis Harris stamps.  I really love each and every new one that comes out!  Sooooo sweet.  Of course, I had to get "before I met you tiny dancer" the second I saw it!

I doo-dadded up the card with UmWow Studio confetti hearts, frilly lace from 3 Girl JAM, Timeless Twine in Bubblegum Pink....and a couple wee little flowers!  This adorable girl totally deserves little frillies, don't ya think? :)  She also needed a sparkly tu-tu, so I colored it with a Zig Wink of Stella glitter pen.  Lookie how pretty!  (sorry the picture is HUGE, I had to make it HUGE to see the glitter on my computer, haha)

Love My Boys

Proud to be posting today's card at 3 Girl JAM today!  Our challenge this month is "Something I Love," and my post is more about the someones I love.  My boys.

I'm the proud mom/step-mom of four wonderful young men.  They are all in the ages of 19 and 20.  (Two mine; two his)  They are really good guys, and today's card is in honor of them.  They all now fit into those size 10 to 12 boots, but they remain "determined" to do the right thing.  The oldest does elder care for Alzheimer's patients at a local retirement facility.  The twins both work and go to school.  The "baby" is a soldier in the U.S. Army, deployed in South Korea (miss him).  They are all amazing, and I sure do love them and their "determination."

The paper is from the scrap pile.  The stamp is Unity Stamp Company, Determination.  That fabulous jute ribbon can be found at the 3 Girl JAM store - HERE!  And if you use code KN10, you can get it for 10% off.  What a deal!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Lips and Twine for Rileigh

I'm up on the Timeless Twine blog today with a special project for the daughter of a very sweet friend.  Our theme this month is 3D.  I know Valentine's day is over, but I just can't get enough of the pink and the love!

Timeless Twine, lips, flowers and pink.  Yep, I love how it turned out.  Hope Rileigh likes it.  I cut out the R on my Cameo and then had my DH cut an R out of wood.  The paper R is then stuck down with Mod Podge.  The R is bordered with yummy Timeless Twine in Raspberry Pink and Strawberry Cupcake.  The banner is strung with Bubblegum Pink.  I then added some pearls and a flower. Here's what I came up with!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure to check out the Timeless Twine / Bella Creationz store for some of this beautiful twine and all sorts of other goodies!

Shiny and Nice

I'm playing along with Shopping Our Stash's "Oh Shiny" challenge to use something shiny.  Using Unity Stamp Company August 2013 Sentiment kit, Here's My Thought, here's what I did....

The word "nicest" is colored with a Copic pen and then covered in Glossy Accents.  I wanted to make YOU stand out, so I colored it with Black Diamond and Yellow Ice Stickles.  I like the masculine feel of the card :)  Thanks for stopping by today!

Friday Fun

Yay! It's FRIDAY and it's a 3-day weekend for me!  Whoop, whoop!

I did a couple cards for today's post.  I'll get back to using some of my stamps that I haven't shown a lot of inky love, but this week, I just HAD to ink up my new Unity "You....crack me up" set.

O.M.GEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I love these chickies!  So fun with bright spring colors.  The paper is from the Echo Park Everyday Eclectic paper collection (background) and the green was in my stash pile.  The twine is Lemonade Yellow from Timeless Twine, and the doily is from Bella Creationz.  The butterflies are confetti chip from UmWow Studio covered in liquid pearls.  The little chicky is colored with Copic markers.

AND I got a new Karen Burniston die.  I plan to do some minis with this die, but I needed to play with it a little, so I used Unity "Everything Happens to be Wonderful" and "Real Shared Happiness" to create this fun card.  Many of my old Crop Chocolate buds will recognize the ribbon.  Yes, I still have a LOT of celery ribbon around.  haha

I'm going to get the frame for it because I'm not sure I like the "back" showing on the right side.  Sure was fun to play with, and I can imagine all sorts of fun possibilities with pop-out minis!

Enjoy a super happy weekend and super lovey-dovey Valentine's Day, my friends.

Karen

Happy Friday Chickie

Happy Friday, Friends with Flair!

Today, I decided to give some inky love to one of my NEW Unity Stamps, Chick in the Rain.  We are finally getting a wee bit of rain here in California, so this card is done in homage to Mother Nature - hoping for more!

Seriously, could that image be ANY cuter?!  Love it!

The paper is from Prima, All About Me collection, and the image is colored with Tim Holtz distress markers.  The ribbon and felt flowers I've had forever and ever!

Have a great weekend!

Puffy Heart Notes

Thanks for stopping by today.  I'm up on the Timeless Twine blog with my DT post!  Whoop, Whoop!  Be sure to stop by there, leave me some bloggy love and get yourself some of this FABULOUS twine!

I made Matt a post-it note holder.....tried (cough, cough) to keep it masculine.  That heart is covered in a layer of glossy accents to make it a puffy heart, because I do puffy heart love my guy.

I used some paper from my scraps, Timeless Twine in Cherry Red, Chocolate Chip Brown, and Strawberry Truffle Pink, There She Goes Stamps from their mixed media set, glossy accents and sequins.  The post-it note pad is a 3x3 inch.  Yes, it's pink.  Hey, it's the only color I had!!  The white cardstock is cut at 3-1/2" x 7", and the pattern paper is 3-1/4" x 6-3/4".  The hearts is 1" x 7" and the twine is glued underneath it.

Here's the inside!

Mixed Media Love

I'm up on the Cuttin' and Stampin' blog today with a super fun mixed media project!  This week, I'm featuring some of the products from the Teresa Collins You Are My Happy collection.  When I started this project, I had a vague idea what I wanted to do.  This turned out absolutely nothing like what was in my head......and I LOVE it!  That, my friends, is the fun of mixed media.  It doesn't have to be thought out.  It can just flow....

Here's a close-up of a couple of the elements.  I used my NEW Wink of Stella glitter brush pen on those flowers.  They are so beautiful and shimmery.  This pen is SO easy to use and the shimmery goodness is fabulous.  You NEED one of these pens....and lucky you, you can get them at Cuttin' and Stampin' for a great price.

The recipe for this card includes
Teresa Collins You are My Happy Paper, washi tape, sticker and embellishments
UmWow Studio Miniature Heart Polaroid Chip
Unity Stamp Company Lovely Little Wings Stamp
Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Brushed Pewter
Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Victorian Velvet and Dried Marigold
Tim Holtz Layering Stencils
Copic Pen (R02)
Ranger Glossy Accents
Ranger Distress Crackle Paint

Timeless Twine: Simply White Blog Hop

Welcome to my stop on the Timeless Twine Simply White Release Blog Hop!!  If you stumbled upon my stop, be sure to goooooooooooooo baaaaaaaack to the beginning at http://timelesstwine.blogspot.com

So excited today to be hopping with the my DT sistahs celebrating the release of Simply White Timeless Twine.  I love this stuff; it's so versatile.  I know you will love it too!

When I saw this twine, my first thought was to make an all-white or a mostly-white card using it.  I decided to stamp Unity Stamp Company No. Bunny. in Early Espresso from Stampin' up and color key parts in a pink color.  I added a doily that you can find at Bella Creationz - here

I love the white on white, but I'm a color girl, so I decided to do a second card using the same stamp set.

The paper is from CTMH, and I used another of the Bella Creationz beautiful doilies.  I love how the white twine just pops from the page!

You can win a spool of this beautiful twine and a $10 gift certificate to the Bella Creationz store.  All you have to do is leave some bloggy love for me and my DT sistahs on this hop.  Easy peezy!  A random winner will be selected from comments and announced no later than 2/16/14.

Here is the order of the hop:

Christmas Tag

It's Sunday, so that means it's challenge day at Christmas Card Challenges!  This week's challenge is to make a Christmas tag or incorporate a Christmas tag into your card.  Our challenges are always optional. The only requirement is to make a Christmas card.  Easy!

I used EP So This is Christmas paper and a Unity Stamp of the Week to make this tag-ful card.

Oh....and ya, I know tag-ful isn't really a word.  LOL

I'm the mixed media gal on the orange team.  I'm certainly no expert on mixed media, but I'm learning and so excited to be playing with different kinds of products!

The stamps are from Paper Smooches Chubby Chums.  I created that background with Tim Holtz distress paints.  The hearts are sprayed through the UmWow Studio mask with Dylusions ink spray in White Linen.  I added a button and some Timeless Twine to round things out.
